An exhibition, finally! Drift~

So, I finally decided to stopped attempting to rebel against the art scene by efusing to have a show/market myself as an artist and gave in. I had work I wanted to show dammit!

Why I even wrote an 'Artists statement' Gosh!

Accidents, loss of control and lack of direction (being adrift, as the title of the show suggests) are the dominant themes in my work. I was also morbidly fascinated with the concept of divine deluge’s that wash away the destruction and decadence wrought by mankind - a state of being literally and figuratively adrift.

Accidents and loss of control are also a part of my work process. To create my works I’ve used transparency sheets, employing different mark making techniques ranging from controlled drawings, to drips and splatters and scrapes. While working on the paintings sometimes a stack of rejected transparencies lying on top of each other would look better than something I’d spent an hour arranging. Other works flowed together while following a stream of consciousness - not thinking about what I was doing.
Using transparences and glass sandwich frames I wished to create literal depth in my works.

The funny thing is... this is right before Pakistan started to flood. Eep?
